Solo Trip to Oud-Beijerland: A Charming Village in the Netherlands

Solo trip to Oud-Beijerland, the Netherlands. Have you heard of Oud-Beijerland? This charming place, just thirty minutes from Rotterdam, is still relatively unknown, but definitely worth a visit. Perfect for the solo traveler, who loves a combination of historic charm and modern coziness. Join me on a journey of discovery, through the cozy streets and unique shops of Oud-Beijerland.

First Impressions of Oud-Beijerland

Upon arrival in Oud-Beijerland, you will immediately notice the cozy and inviting atmosphere. Sometimes you can feel the vibe of a place right away, and here, that was certainly the case. Even without any specific expectations, I was pleasantly surprised by the warm ambiance of this village.

The Lively Shopping Street

In no time, I found myself on the lively shopping street, the beating heart of Oud-Beijerland. Here, you’ll find shops that differ from the standard offerings in the big city. The emphasis here is on craftsmanship and authenticity. These unique shops give the village its charm.

A Chocolate Lover’s Dream

If you’re a chocolate enthusiast like me, then you can’t miss the local chocolate shop. They have the most delicious chocolate for every chocolate lover. The bonbons are beautifully crafted, such as mini tompoucen, which are a delightful and tasty surprise. I left with a bag of cashew nut chocolate myself. Absolutely delicious!

Shopping for Gifts

If you’re looking for a unique gift, Oud-Beijerland is the ideal place. You will find everything, from authentic Greek sweets in beautiful jars to stunning Bohemian dresses. I’m particularly fond of maxi dresses, and every Tuesday, a new collection arrives at Imanitheboutique. This is a good reason, to keep coming back to Oud-Beijerland. You will definitely find something special here!

The Historic Peperstraat

The Peperstraat is one of the oldest streets in the center. It takes you back in time, with its monumental buildings and original facades. Here, you will find cozy cafes and eateries. Enjoy shared dining and the charming village atmosphere. I highly recommended Restaurant Roha, where the food is amazing and the mocktails are delicious. The atmosphere is also very cozy, so definitely worth a visit!

Community Feeling in Oud-Beijerland

One of the highlights of a visit to Oud-Beijerland, is the strong sense of community. In the restaurants and cafes, you can easily connect with the friendly locals. It’s a place, where everyone still knows each other by name. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming.
